Vegan protein special

Where do you get your protein? This question is arguably the most asked question that vegans get asked. Many replies refer to some of the top vegan animals in the world – big, beautiful, strong, powerful; and herbivorous. The elephant, rhino, hippo and horse to name a few

We now also see many images on social media of vegan athletes and body builders who are training and thriving on a plant based diet.

You can find many vegan body builders showing just how easy it is to eat a plant based diet and still be strong.

Getting enough protein is only a small part of getting all of the other nutrients our bodies need to stay strong and healthy. Check out my post about what we need to eat everyday

However as ‘How do you get your protein?’ is the most asked question I thought I would give you some top tips that I have found out whist on my own vegan journey.

There are many foods that are plant based but also packed with protein.

Legumes (chickpeas, beans, lentils etc), along with nuts and seeds are generally know to be high in protein.

Other high protein pant based foods include tofu, soya or seitan which are all great meat substitute foods that quite often taste like meat and have the same consistency as meat so, all of the meals that you know and love taste just the same.

The best veggies to eat that have a high protein content are cooked spinach, broccoli and cauliflower.

Another fantastic and easy way to add more protein to your diet is by adding vegan protein powder to your smoothies and milkshakes. There are many brands now that are 100% plant based and are usually a protein made from peas. They have the same protein content as whey (milk) protein powders and are a great addition to your drinks.

Lastly are the protein bars that we can either make using vegan protein or purchase online or from the supermarket. They are a great snack to eat after or before a workout and are available whenever you need them as a grab-and-go snack. Our high protein Love Vegan bites contain up to 10.1g of protein ber bar and are available to buy here www.loveveganbyjennifer.co.uk
