This beautiful chocolate frosting can be whipped up in no time. It is super tasty but also really healthy compared to other chocolate frostings.
I like to use this to top a chocolate cake or brownies when I bake healthier versions and it’s also nice to use as a spread on toast or to enjoy with fruits and yoghurt.
So if you’re looking to reduce your sugar intake than this is the frosting for you, I admit it doesn’t taste like a butter cream that is loaded with sugar and butter but it’s a really good everyday compromise.
I hope you love it too x
This will make enough to cover one large cake or brownie tin, double up if you require two layers.
Ingredients
1/4 cup cashew nut butter (I recommend cashew as it is mild in flavour, you could sub for almond or peanut but the flavour will be more prominent)
2 tbsp agave/maple syrup
3 tbsp cacao powder
1 tsp vanilla essence/paste
2 tbsp plant milk
Method
Place all of the frosting ingredients into a large bowl and stir together until combined.
You may need to use a handheld whisk to blend completely and remove any lumps, this depends on how smooth your nut butter is.
Whisk if required until smooth
Add another tbsp of plant milk if needed
Taste and add extra sweetness if required (2 tbsp is enough for me but add more until it’s to your liking)
Ready to use straight away or it will keep in the fridge for about 5 days -allow to come to room temperature before spreading and you may need an additional tbsp of milk to soften.
If you do make this then I hope you love it
Any thoughts or comments?
Leave a message below and I’ll get back to you
Big love, Jen x
