This creamy mousse has a secret healthy ingredient that is so god for you that this chocolatey pud will count as one of your five a day. The secret ingredient is actually avocado.

Avocados contain almost 20 vitamins and minerals in every serving, including potassium, which is good for controlling blood pressure, lutein which is good for your eyes and vitamin B which will help fight off disease and infection. The humble avocado is a super food and although it’s high in fat it contains the good type of fat that is beneficial for your body.

When avocado is blended it goes really creamy making it perfect for a creamy mousse. I personally love this mousse and I make them for myself a lot, especially if I’m craving a sweet treat but I want to reach out for a healthier option. I can’t taste the avocado but I have made this for friends and family and some say that the avocado taste is really strong!

Even with mixed reactions I’m still a massive fan of this mousse which is why I’m sharing the recipe with you all. Please let me know your thoughts if you have a go at making this at home-I really hope you like it.

You need to make sure that the avocado you use it completely ripe or it wont blend to a smooth consistency and you’ll be left with small green lumps in the mousse which is not very nice. Only ripe avocados for this recipe.

Ingredients

2 ripe avocados

2 tbsp maple syrup

2 tbsp pant based milk

1/4 cup cacao powder

Optional grated chocolate and raspberries to decorate.

Method

  • Place all of the ingredients into a blender and whizz up until you have a creamy consistency and all of the avocado is completely smooth.

  • Divide into two small glasses or jars and chill for a couple of hours in the fridge.

  • You may wish to sprinkle with grated vegan/dark chocolate for decoration and perhaps a couple of raspberries too, as they go really nice with the chocolate.

If you do make this then I hope you love it
